BMG Is Singing Our Song...
Oct 06, 2025BMG’s Report Card — And Why It Proves We’re Ahead of the Curve
BMG — one of the biggest players in the global music industry — just released its mid-year results. On the surface, it looks like business as usual: revenue dipped slightly, streaming ticked up, and profits rose because they cut “lower margin” activities like live concerts.
But here’s what caught my attention: BMG is finally doing what I’ve been shouting from the rooftops for years inside Sold 4 a Song Academy. Their moves echo the exact strategies I’ve been teaching indie artists and songwriters all along.
Ownership = Leverage (The Game-Changer)
BMG’s new strategy, BMG Next, is all about bringing distribution in-house. Why? Because when you own the distribution, you own the audience data, the transparency, and ultimately the leverage.
That’s not new to me — or to my students. At Sold 4 a Song Academy, I show you how to build your own “portal” where you own the fan connection, the data, and the creative pipeline. BMG is just catching up to what I’ve been urging artists like you to do for years.
The Value Problem: Music Is Still Undervalued
BMG’s CEO admitted it: compared to video, music is still undervalued. Spotify raised prices, subscribers didn’t leave — yet artists still aren’t seeing fair returns.
I’ve been saying this from day one: the system is rigged to undervalue your work. That’s the $old 4 a $ong mission — to flip the script, so you stop waiting for the industry to fix itself and instead build systems that reflect your true worth.
AI: Threat or Tool?
BMG is experimenting with AI to cut costs. Meanwhile, lawsuits are piling up against AI companies for ripping music without credit.
My stance has always been clear: AI can be a tool, but only if you own your work and protect it. Otherwise, someone else’s algorithm will eat your lunch. That’s why I show you how to tag, protect, and control your copyrights before AI takes control of you.
The Catalog Game: Wealth Creation
BMG has spent over €1.2 billion on catalogs since 2021. Why? Because catalogs are assets. They build wealth.
This is exactly why I push artists not to sell out their catalogs too early. While corporations keep buying, artists keep selling — and it doesn’t have to be that way. Inside the Academy, I show you how to treat your catalog like an appreciating asset that fuels long-term freedom.
Focus = Freedom
BMG dropped live concerts to zero in on publishing and recordings. They’re cutting distractions to pour energy into what matters most.
That’s what I’ve been teaching all along: cut the noise, stop chasing vanity metrics, and put your focus where ownership and value actually live.
What This Means for You
BMG just validated everything we stand for:
-
Ownership creates leverage.
-
Music is undervalued — until you change the game.
-
AI is a tool only if you control it.
-
Catalogs are wealth — don’t give yours away.
-
Focus creates freedom.
The industry giants are finally catching on. But here’s the thing: you don’t need to wait for them. You can start building your system now.
🚀 Ready to Stay Ahead of the Curve?
BMG’s moves prove what I’ve been teaching is the future of music. If you’re ready to stop selling yourself short and start building your own Escape Hatch, I invite you to go deeper:
